What is Accessible Design?

Since peoples’ needs change in their living spaces  throughout life, consumers are moving toward accessible design,a universal design concept that strives to incorporate characteristics for access into products, elements and spaces that can be used by everyone.

Adults and children, from temporary disabilities to a permanent disability can benefit from environments that are universally designed. With its growing popularity, new products and architectural structures are being introduced on the market at a growing rate. These products not only satisfy specific needs but also incorporate designs that are aesthetically appealing without altering its functionality and safety.

Adopting accessible design principles for all people can reduce fatigue, effectiveness and stress. In many ways, accessible design addresses the larger issues of usability by making things easier for everyone.

Rose is specially trained in accessible design and has over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapist in a variety of settings. She understands optimizing the environments of people as they age and the  special needs populations. We specialize in the following services:
